Who we are
Interstate Inventory is operated by Joseph Childs, a sole proprietor doing business as JC Media (Joey Childs Media), based in San Jose, California. You can reach us at joey@joeychildsmedia.com.
The two roles this policy covers
Interstate Inventory is a tool that moving companies use to create inventories for their own customers. That means our responsibilities differ depending on whose data it is:
- Your moving company’s account and team. For the account, login, and company information your business provides, we act as the party responsible for that data.
- Your customers’ inventory data. For the inventory information your crew captures about the household being moved — the customer’s name, signature, home and item photos, addresses, and item lists — we act only as a service provider processing that data on your moving company’s behalf. Your moving company decides what to collect and is responsible for informing its own customers and obtaining any consent required by law.
If you are a household customer whose mover used this app and you have a question about your information, please contact that moving company directly; we will support their request.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and authentication credentials, and your company or organization details.
- Inventory content you create. Item descriptions, quantities, room and household data, pre-existing-damage notes, signatures, and job and customer details (including addresses) that you enter to build a move inventory.
- Photos and 3D scan data. Photos you capture of items and rooms, and LiDAR room-scan measurements, used to build and document the inventory.
- Microphone / dictation. If you use voice entry, speech is transcribed on your device using Apple’s on-device Speech framework to create inventory items. Audio recordings are not sent to or stored on our servers.
The app does not track your device’s location and does not use advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking tools.
AI features
Some suggestions — cleaning up item names and turning your dictation into inventory items — are generated by Apple’s on-device Foundation Models and by Apple’s on-device Vision and Speech frameworks. This processing happens entirely on your device and this data is not sent to us or any third party.
When you enable cloud AI analysis (a setting you control), item and room photos and LiDAR scan data are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to suggest item names, categories, and visible pre-existing damage. This data is used only to return results to you and is not used to train Anthropic’s models. If cloud AI analysis is turned off, no photos or scans are sent to Anthropic.
Every AI suggestion — on-device or cloud — is reviewed and confirmed by your crew before it is saved. Nothing is added to an inventory automatically.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service: creating, storing, syncing, and exporting your move inventories and signed manifests.
- To authenticate you and keep your company’s data separated from other companies’ data.
- To optionally analyze item photos and scans with AI to suggest item names, categories, and visible pre-existing damage (see AI features above). This feature can be turned off in Settings.
How your information is stored and shared
Your data is stored in our cloud database and file storage and is synced between your device and that database so your inventories are available and backed up. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
We share data with the following service providers only to operate the app:
- Supabase — our cloud infrastructure provider: database, authentication, and photo/file storage.
- PowerSync — a hosted data-synchronization service that syncs your inventory data between your device and our database.
- Anthropic— when cloud AI analysis is enabled, item and room photos and scan data are sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate item and damage suggestions. This data is processed to return results to you and is not used to train Anthropic’s models. If cloud AI analysis is turned off, no photos or scans are sent to Anthropic.
- Apple— when you search for an address, the text you type is sent to Apple’s mapping service to return address suggestions.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your account and inventory data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at joey@joeychildsmedia.com, and we will delete it within a reasonable period. Data stored offline on a device is removed when you delete it from the device or sign out.
Security and data location
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, and access to a company’s data is restricted to authenticated users of that company. Data is stored on servers located in the United States.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to ask how it is used. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at joey@joeychildsmedia.com.
California residents. Under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access or deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If you are a household customer, direct your request to the moving company that used the app (the party responsible for your data), and we will assist them in responding.
Children’s privacy
The app is intended for business use by moving professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
